About Universal Angling Supplies, Sheffield

Universal Angling Supplies originally opened in 1998 on Mansfield Road in the Intake area of Sheffield. After ten and a half years of successful trading in a wide range of products (new and used) we felt that we couldn’t take the shop any further. In January 2009 we closed the shop doors for a final time to follow other projects.

A new shop for a new era

As a keen angler and tackle enthusiast, I never stayed far from the trade and always kept one eye on how tackle shops were doing. To my surprise and dismay, I noticed shop after shop closing down in Sheffield, while initial enquiries suggested that a lot of the trade had gone online.

I felt that there was a gap left after the shops disappeared, which created an opportunity to sell from a shop, complimented by online sales.

Our original ethos was to sell good value angling equipment (not cheap equipment) and we will continue to stick by that as well as well as allowing customers to bring in their unwanted tackle to part-exchange, making it easier on their pockets too.

Our unit is just under 400 square feet so it’s not a mega-store, but we try our best to fill it with great value tackle, bait and of course advice. I look forward to seeing you soon, Luke.
